The Chase, Oxshott

Complete luxury internal refurbishment and second storey extension

This neo-classical house boasted large rooms and an imposing central concrete and wrought iron staircase, but was un-inviting and lacking in warmth and practicality.

The potential for improvement was huge and after taking a brief from the client, Justin designed and installed a striking new hand-made timber staircase with concealed storage underneath. This was accentuated with new panelling throughout the hall, stairs and landing to create a welcoming feel from the moment you walked through the new double font doors.

Designs were presented and planning achieved for the extension of the smallest bedroom, resulting in five well-proportioned bedrooms, all with en-suites. His and hers fully fitted dressing rooms were created to complete the master suite.

Working with the client at every stage, architectural drawings, samples and sketches were presented and approved. New hand finished flooring was installed throughout, along with bespoke cabinetry to the landing.  The kitchen, dining room and living room were knocked through to connect the space and give a better sense of flow.  A floor-to-ceiling crittall glass sliding door was added, enabling the closing of rooms while still retaining natural light.

The property further benefited from new Scandinavian design Rationel windows and doors, boasting excellent thermal and acoustic properties. Painting and decorating was undertaken throughout and a Control4 home automation system was installed integrating every room for modern, practical living.

This property has been transformed from its former life and is now a much-loved home.
