Wodeland Avenue, Guildford

Modern, minimalist, basement conversion and light, open plan stairwell

This sort after semi-detached Victorian house was transformed by excavating the existing basement to create significant additional headroom and adding a contemporary rear extension.   The design opened up the floor of rear room at entrance level to create a double height void.  A new timber and glass feature staircase lead down into an open plan minimalist kitchen, new utility, bathroom and playroom.

Flush floor bi folds create a seamless divide between the polished concrete floor internally and the external tiled dining area, whilst the glass slice to the side and large roof lantern shower the room in natural light.

At ground entrance level, the existing staircase handrail was polished to match new flooring, creating a harmonious transition from old to new.

Underfloor heating to the basement level, a new wood burning stove to the ground floor living room, new lighting and decoration throughout have achieved the brief to create a light, stunning family home.
